M.A. Curriculum and Instruction, May 2017
B.S. Elementary Education, May 2016 NEAG School of Education, IB/M Program University of Connecticut, Storrs |
Hello! My name is Christina Moavero and I teach 8th grade United States history at Sedgwick Middle School in West Hartford, CT. Prior to teaching in West Hartford I taught 7th grade Social Studies at Rippowam Middle School in Stamford, CT.
I am a Graduate of the NEAG School of Education's Integrated Bachelors/Masters program at the University of Connecticut. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a subject major in Social Studies. In 2017 I graduated from NEAG with my master's of arts in Curriculum and Instruction. After a year off, I am going back to school to work towards my master's of education in Instructional Technology with a concentration in P-12 library media. I hold my certification to teach elementary grades K-6, and a cross endorsement to teach social studies for grades 7-12. I aspire to teach a wide range of grade levels in my lifetime as an educator! I was born in Stamford, CT where my entire family has lived for generations. At the age of five I moved to Bethel, CT, where I grew up and attended high school. I am grateful to have attended school in such a tightly knit and loving community. This fostered my love for educating myself and others, and I hope to provide the same experience for my future students. In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, drawing, and spending time with my friends and family. Mostly, I love spending time outdoors, preferably at the beach! |

Connecticut (Iota Lambda)
Senior Christina Moavero is in the NEAG School of Education at the university and spent last academic term student teaching in Hartford, Conn. The school adopted a new reading program that required headphones, which were not readily available in the school. Christina reached out to the Iota Lambda chapter for donations and old headphones, and she was quickly able to provide enough for her class and three others.
Award |
During my time student teaching, I was an active member of my chapter's executive board as the elected Director of New Member Education. I was recognized for my achievements in this leadership role at the 2016 Alpha Phi Leadership Conference when I was awarded the Excellence in New Member Programming Award.
